The Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships is a vibrant celebration of Scotland’s musical heritage, showcasing the incredible talent of young pipers and drummers from across the country.  It’s more than a competition – it’s a movement to inspire, empower, and elevate the next generation of musicians.

With a range of competition grades and categories, the Championships offer a platform for elite-level performance and a welcoming space for emerging school bands with little or no competitive experience.  Whether you’re seasoned or just starting out, there’s a place for you here.

We believe every pupil should have the opportunity to learn the pipes and drums – just like any other instrument taught in schools.  If you can learn trumpet or violin, why not bagpipes or snare drum? The Championships help that vision a reality, showing the transformative power piping and its role as a force for good in education and community life.

But we don’t stop at tradition.  Our Freestyle category breaks the mould, inviting school pipe bands to collaborate with other instrumentalists in imaginative, genre-blending performances.  It’s a one-of-a-kind experience in the pipe band world – check out the videos to see how creativity, skill, and teamwork come together in unforgettable ways.
